Pepe Margo

Our Story

Rooted in Aruba.
Built for the world.

Pepe Margo Distillery was founded with a singular vision: to create spirits that embody the true essence of Aruba — defined by origin, craftsmanship, and uncompromising quality.

In a destination shaped by growth and global influence, we saw the opportunity to elevate something deeply local. Our approach is rooted in Aruba's heritage, expressed through a refined lens that meets the highest international standards.

Every detail is intentional. From our setting in a meticulously restored historic home on Aruba's original main street to our precise production methods, we create an environment where tradition and innovation coexist seamlessly.

Our team brings together advanced expertise in biotechnology, production, and the food and beverage industry. This foundation allows us to pursue excellence at every stage — developing spirits that are technically precise, elegantly balanced, and distinctive in character.

We do not follow trends, nor do we replicate what already exists. Each expression is carefully developed to reflect a sense of place — authentic to Aruba, yet refined for a global audience.

Pepe Margo Distillery represents a new standard: a modern, elevated expression of Aruba, defined by authenticity and driven by quality.

"Authentic to Aruba. Refined for the world."

The Name

Named for Tan Margo.

The distillery takes its name from Catarina Margarita Arends-Wever — known as Tan Margo, and to the children she cared for, as Pepe Margo. Pepe in Papiamento means godmother. She lived in this house for most of her life, and it is her name we carry in every bottle we produce.

Tan Margo
Tan = aunt in Papiamento
A term of deep affection, used to honour women of significance within the community.
Pepe Margo
Pepe = godmother in Papiamento
The name given to Catarina by the children she cared for — a title of trust and lasting connection.
